Installation Methods
The Cisco ASR 1002-X Router is designed for a standalone, 2-rail 19-inch rack mount (front rail only),
4-rail 19-inch rack mount (front and rear rail).
Although rack-mounting is the preferred method of installation for the Cisco ASR 1002-X Router, you
can mount the chassis on an equipment shelf or tabletop.
The Cisco ASR 1002-X Router is usually shipped fully loaded. However, you can remove components

such as the power supplies, from the chassis to make the chassis lighter for your rack installation.
