Installing the ASM-SFN Boot Image for VSFN
You can specify the VERITAS Storage Foundation for Networks (VSFN) virtualization image for the
Advanced Services Module (ASM) or, as of Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 2.1(1a), the Storage Services
Module (SSM) using the ASM-SFN image boot variable. Once you set the ASM-SFN image boot
variable, you do not need to reset it for upgrades or downgrades to any Cisco MDS SAN-OS release that
supports the ASM-SFN image.
As of Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 2.1(2), the ASM and VSFN are no longer supported.
Note
You cannot configure the ASM-SFN image boot variable and the SSI image boot variable for a module

concurrently. The ASM and SSM can run only one or the other.
Caution
The process to update the ASM-SFN boot image disrupts traffic.
