How do I set up the phones so that a user can monitor another user's extension?
A nurse needs to monitor a doctor's line.
Assign a BLF button to the nurse's phone. Choose the doctor's extension as the
monitored line. The LED will indicate whether the phone is idle, is ringing, is
connected on a call, or is holding call.
When the doctor's extension is ringing, the nurse can press the BLF button to pick
up the call. When the doctor's line is idle, the nurse can press the BLF button to
place a call to the doctor's extension.
How do I assign trunks for outbound calling? I want users to press 8 for our
Voice over IP service and 9 for our local telephone service. On the Internal
Dialing page, you can assign trunks to each digit that is used to get an outside line.
This feature applies if you have more than one type of trunk (such as FXO and SIP/
BRI).
Before you begin: It is assumed that you have enabled your FXO trunks and
entered the information for your SIP/BRI trunks. You also need to configure System
Automation to allow outbound calling from all extensions. If you have not done so,
complete those tasks before beginning this procedure.
Click System Features > Internal Dialing in the navigation tree.
Scroll down to the Meaning of First Digit Dialed section.
Configure dialing for digit 8:
If 8 is not configured for Outbound Dialing, choose that option from the drop-
down list.
Click the Outbound Trunk Assignment button, and then check the box for
your SIP provider (VoIP service).
