• Controls printing sequence • Controls output • Controls motors

• Controls finisher (accessory)

• Controls communications with controller unit • Controls service mode

• Stores service mode data

• Stores user mode data

• Stores control data

• Flash memory for storing control program

• Backs up RAM data

• Mask ROM for control program (for future use)
