Operation on the converter
For converter operation, the converter world motor or a synchronous-reluctance motor is
recommended. The converter world motor is designated using the machine-readable product
designation (MLFB) at the 13th position using number 6 or 7 to designate either the star or delta
connection. As standard, the converter world motor or synchronous-reluctance motor has the
improved ("Advanced") insulating system. The converter world motor or synchronous-
reluctance motor is only suitable for converter operation and is controlled by the converter.
Permissible voltage stress
NOTICE
Damage to the motor insulation
The motor insulation will be damaged by impermissible voltage peaks produced by converters
without an output filter.
Reduce the maximum motor voltage to noncritical values by using an output filter on the
converter.
The maximum peak-to-peak voltage at the motor terminals according to DIN EN 60034‑18‑41
compared to SIMOTICS insulation systems is shown in the following table.
