Using the Auxiliary Port on the Supervisor PIC
The auxiliary port provides a connection for a terminal server to allow remote access to the router and its
command-line interface (CLI).
Before you begin

Required Tools and Equipment
• RJ-45 cable
• RJ-45-to-DB-9 adapter
• Terminal server
Step 1
Connect one end of the RJ-45 cable to the auxiliary port on the Supervisor PIC.

Step 2
Connect the other end of the RJ-45 cable to the RJ-45-to-DB-9 adapter.
Route the cable through the Supervisor PIC cable management bracket and chassis-mounted fiber/cable
routing
guide.
Connect a terminal server to the auxiliary port
Install the Supervisor
PIC.
Install the Supervisor
Card.
