Introduction
This document defines the supported HP NetServer LXr Pro configurations for Microsoft Cluster Server.
These configurations minimize single points of failure, provide maximum availability, and have been
certified by Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft. This guide is prescriptive; it describes the HP NetServer LXr
Pro configurations supported by HP. Any configuration not expressly allowed by this guide will not be
supported by HP.

HP NetServer LXr Pro Model 1
Each node must be the same model SPU, but may have different size main
memory, cache, and number of CPUs (at least 2 are required).

Shared Storage HP Rack Storage/8 with HP NetRAID controller and HP
disks. See Shared Storage below.
Any NIC that is HP and Microsoft approved. See
HP D5013A or J3171A only with crossover cable. See
below.
Direct from power mains, power conditioner or uninterruptable power
supply (UPS) using any power conditioner or UPS.
G.01.00 or later
Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Enterprise Edition.
SP3 and hotfix "clusfixi", or later. The hotfix is not required but is
recommended for clusters using 9.1GB and higher capacity drives.

Shared Storage Cabling This part of the guide defines the allowable cabling configurations for clusters using the HP NetServer LXr Pro and HP Rack Storage/8s. Only these cabling configurations and cables are supported. NetRAID Ch. 0 NetRAID Ch. 1 NOTES: 1. - Page 5 NetRAID Adapter 1, NetRAID Adapter 2, Ch. 0 (top) Ch. 0 (top) Ch. 1 (bottom) Ch. 1 (bottom) NOTES: 1. Configure cluster using 3 or 4 Rack Storage/8s. 2. Channel 0 and 1 of each NetRAID Adapter for each LXr must be connected together through the Rack Storage/8s as shown on the diagram.
