A program that provides basic services or functions.
Volume
A subdivision of the space on a hard disk that is treated as though it were a
separate physical unit, or a combination of physical disks treated as a single unit.
A computer with only one hard disk can have a single volume, often called drive
C:, or it can have several volumes, such as drive C:, drive D:, and drive E:.
Volume set
A single logical drive composed of up to 32 areas of free space on one or more
hard disks. Volume sets can be used to combine small areas of free space on one or
more hard disks into a larger logical drive.
