Periodic maintenance and adjustment
1
Cast magnesium wheels
To maximize the performance, durabil-
ity, and safe operation of your motorcy-
2
cle, note the following points regarding
these wheels.
3
The wheel rims should be checked
for cracks, bends, warpage or
4
damage before each ride. If any
damage is found, have a Yamaha
dealer replace the wheel. Do not
5
attempt even the smallest repair to
the wheel. A deformed or cracked
6
wheel must be replaced.
The wheel should be balanced
7
whenever the tire or wheel has
been changed or replaced. An un-
balanced wheel can result in poor
8
performance, adverse handling
characteristics, and shortened tire
9
life.
These wheels are made of magnesium
and require special care.
10
When balancing the wheel, use
press-on type weights to avoid
11
scratching the wheel.
Regularly inspect the wheel for
12
nicks and scratches. Use touch-up
paint or other sealant to prevent
EAU66460
corrosion.
Follow the instructions for cleaning
provided on page 9-1.
