  • Page 5 Operation WARNING l When you have chosen the retry function, stay away from the equipment as it will restart suddenly after an alarm stop. l Since pressing the key may not stop output depending on the function setting status, provide a circuit and switch separately to make an emergency stop (power off, mechanical brake operation for emergency stop, etc).

Purpose of earthing (grounding) Generally, an electrical apparatus has an earth (ground) terminal, which must be connected to the ground before use. An electrical circuit is usually insulated by an insulating material and encased. However, it is impossible to manufacture an insulating material that can shut off a leakage current completely, and actually, a slight current flows into the case.

  • Page 31 WIRING (2) Insert wires into a blade terminal, then crimp the terminal. Insert wires to a blade terminal, and check that the wires come out for about 0 to 0.5 mm from a sleeve. Check the condition of the blade terminal after crimping. Do not use a blade terminal of which the crimping is inappropriate, or the face is damaged.
  • Page 32 WIRING 2.4.3 Wiring precautions l It is recommended to use the cables of 0.3 to 0.75mm² gauge for connection to the control circuit terminals. l The wiring length should be 30m (200m for the terminal FM) maximum. l Use two or more parallel micro-signal contacts or twin contacts to prevent a contact faults when using contact inputs since the control circuit input signals are micro- currents.

    3 FAILSAFE OF THE SYSTEM WHICH USES THE INVERTER When a fault is detected by the protective function, the protective function activates and outputs the Fault signal. However, the Fault signal may not be output at an inverter's fault occurrence when the detection circuit or output circuit fails, etc. Although Mitsubishi assures the best quality products, provide an interlock which uses inverter status output signals to prevent accidents such as damage to the machine when the inverter fails for some reason.

    7 INVERTER FAULT AND ALARM INDICATIONS When the inverter detects a fault, depending on the nature of the fault, the operation panel displays an error message or warning, or a protective function is activated to shut off the inverter output. When any fault occurs, take an appropriate corrective action, then reset the inverter, and resume the operation.

Note that the internal thermal integrated value of the electronic thermal relay function and the number of retries are cleared (erased) by resetting the inverter. Select the cable size for 125% of the rated current according to the National Electrical Code (Article 430). For wiring the input (R/L1, S/L2, T/L3) and output (U, V, W) terminals of the inverter, use the UL listed copper, stranded wires (rated at 75°C) and round crimp ter- minals.
