Congratulations on purchasing the TOSHIBA Electronic Document Processing System. These systems incorporate the e-STUDIO28/35/45 digital copier with the GL-1010 controller or the e-STUDIO550/650/810 digital copier with the GL-1020 controller to provide a one-source solution for all your document copying and network printing needs.
This guide is not intended for digital copier service technicians, operators, or end users. For information on using and maintaining the digital copier, refer to the Toshiba Operator’s Guide for Copying Functions or contact your TOSHIBA authorized dealer for support. For information on using printer drivers and other client software, refer to the Operator’s Guide.

The controller supports Novell’s traditional queue-based print services and can function as either a network printer or a print server. Additionally, the TOSHIBA Novell Distributed Printing Services (NDPS) Gateway, distributed on the e-STUDIO Admin’s Client CD-ROM, allows the controller to emulate an NDPS-aware printer. NDPS is available on the NetWare 4.11, NetWare 4.2, NetWare 5.x, and NetWare 6.x releases.

Installation Overview The TOSHIBA Electronic Document Processing Systems consist of several integrated hardware and software components. The default installation settings are designed to suit the needs of most sites, so they may need adjustment for your network environment. Accordingly, forethought and planning play critical roles in a successful implementation.
To support a wireless LAN, you can install a Cisco Aironet 350 PCI 802.11b Wireless NIC. Fax Option (GL-1010 Only) Installation of the fax option in the GL-1010 controller is described in Installing the Fax Option (GL-1010) on page 11.
Use the copier LCD touch screen to perform the following administrative functions: Enable or disable the network cards. Set the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) addressing mode to employ Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services, or manually enter the addressing information. Enter the primary Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) server IP addresses.

The Destination Folder Prompt By default, the fax and address book file are copied to the following location Program Files\Toshiba\Toshiba e-STUDIO GL-Fax and Address Book directory. To copy the files to a different directory, click to locate the desired directory.

Before a job can be deleted, you must first select the job by clicking on the corresponding check box. To select all jobs, click on the check mark button on the header. This button sets marks on all the jobs in the list.

Navigating the Control Panel GL-1020 Controller You can program standard copy operations, network printing, and administrative functions from the control panel on the top front of the copier. GL-1010 Controller The TOSHIBA digital copier includes a control panel on the top front of the copier from which standard copy operations, as well as network printing and administrative functions, can be programmed. The control panel, sometimes called the copier front panel, includes both hard keys and an LCD Touch Screen.

Print Queue Limit When the print queue limit is active, the print queue is limited to 500 print jobs. If the print queue limit is off, the limit to the number of print jobs in the queue is determined by the available disk space. Latin1 Encoding Latin1 Encoding affects the export of log and address book files or any file which can be exported.
Controlling the Operation of the Controller You can use the following functions from the copier LCD touch screen to control the operation of the controller, including: Take the controller offline Print test pages Reboot the controller Shut down the controller Controller software recovery update Controller software maintenance update Update the controller with new or localized printer drivers...
Printing Test Pages There are three types of test page you can print. The Administrator page: lists the controller and network settings The PCL font list: shows all PCL printer fonts installed on the controller The PS3 font list: shows all PostScript (level 3-compatible) fonts installed on the controller You can print only one test page at a time.

Controller Software Recovery Update Replaces the operating system (OS) software and the controller software from the bootable e-STUDIO Recovery CD-ROM. Displaying Print and Copy Totals Regardless of whether the department code feature is enabled, you can click the Counters tab in TopAccess to display the print and copy totals. Department Code Functionality There are three possible cases: The department code feature is disabled The department code feature is enabled, but enforcement is not Both the department code feature and the enforcement option are enabled.

If you enter the master department code, TopAccess displays the counter totals and the counters for all departments. You can reset the counters of any department, but you cannot change the total counters. You can also delete any department and its code. You can export the displayed counter information to a .CSV file.

Modifying Controller Settings Remotely TOSHIBA’s web-based device and job administration utility, TopAccess, allows administrators to configure device and network settings, monitor and manage jobs, and diagnose network printing errors. Navigating in the TopAccess Home Page The TopAccess Home Page or Main page is the general information page and opens when you launch the application. From here, you can initiate most device monitoring and management functions. The TopAccess Home Page The TopAccess home page contains a header area, body area, and a footer area.

Creating and Using Department Codes The Electronic Document Processing System uses counters to keep track of the number of pages printed, copied, and scanned. It displays these statistics as totals or by department. Each department has a name and a corresponding five-digit code. With the department code feature enabled, if you enter a department code when using the printer drivers, the controller adds the number of printed pages to the counter for that department.
