All manual / safety instructions and electricity supplier’s regulations must be adhered to. · DO NOT connect any of the thermostat terminals to a 110V/220V AC supply. · This is a Class 3 device and must be operated by an approved 18- 30VAC power source. · This device must be connected to the HVAC power supply (18-30VAC) or a UL, cUL, CSA, or ETL approved transformer. · This device is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar indoor high humidity locations. · Keep this device away from all liquids. · Clean the device with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use solvents or aggressive cleaning agents. nOTICE: · This device shall only be used for its intended purpose as described in this Owner’s Manual. · If this is a new installation, locate the thermostat 4 to 5 feet above the floor in accordance with applicable building codes.

    Installation Instructions 1. Always turn off power to the air conditioning or heating system prior to installing thermostat. 2. Determine the HVAC equipment type. Compatible equipment a. 1 Stage Heat / 1 Stage Cool Conventional System b. 2 Stage Heat / 2 Stage Cool Conventional System c. 3 Stage Heat / 2 Stage Cool Conventional System d. 1 Stage Heat / 1 Stage Cool Heat Pump System e. 2 Stage Heat / 2 Stage Cool Heat Pump System f. 3 Stage Heat / 2 Stage Cool Heat Pump System 3. Refer to the wiring diagrams to determine the number of wires necessary to install this thermostat. 4. Ensure the power to the air conditioning or heating system is turned off. 5. Remove front of thermostat body from sub-base. 6. Guide thermostat wires through center hole in sub-base. 7. Place the thermostat sub-base against wall in the desired thermostat location. 8. Mark placement of mounting holes as appropriate. 9. Remove thermostat sub-base from wall and install wall anchors as required at mounting hole locations. 10. Re-insert wires through center hole of sub-base and replace sub-base on wall.
  • Page 4 Installation Instructions (continue) 11. Fasten sub-base to wall using supplied #6 screws into wall anchors. 12. Refer to wiring diagrams and wire thermostat sub-base to the attached HVAC equipment. 13. To prevent electrical shorts and potential damage to the thermostat, ensure all of the sub-base wire connections are secure and are not touching any other terminal. Push any excess wire back into wall cavity and insulate wire opening with suitable material. 14. On thermostat body, locate switch SW1 on thermostat circuit board. 15. Set switch SW1-2 to HP for heat pump system or STD for conventional (or Standard) system. For heat pump system, set switch SW1-1 to E/B for heat changeover valve or G/O for cool changeover valve. For conventional (or Standard) system, set switch SW1-1 to E/B for Electric or G/O for Gas. Electric Heat Heat Heat-Cool Heat-Cool Pump O Pump B 16. Attach front body of thermostat to sub-base of thermostat, being careful to align the terminal pins on the front body with the terminal block on the sub-base. 17. Restore system power and continue to Test the thermostat.
  • Page 5 Thermostat System Testing Conventional HVAC System 1. Hold the MENU button and then press the Reset pinhole. When INSTALLATION MODE is displayed, released the MENU button. All outputs shall be turned off. 2. “HVAC: ELEC Heat/Cool” indicates you set Electric Conventional System, “HVAC: GAS Heat/Cool” indicates you set Gas Convectional System. If it is incorrect, please review the positions of switch SW1. 3. “FAN” should be highlighted. Press the UP or DOWN button to toggle the FAN output (ON/OFF). After testing the FAN output, keep it in ON setting to test other outputs. 4. Press the NEXT button to highlight “COOL: Stage 1”. Press the UP or DOWN button to toggle the COOL Stage 1 output (ON/ OFF). 5. Press the NEXT button to highlight “COOL: Stage 2”. Press the UP or DOWN button to toggle the COOL Stage 2 output (ON/ OFF). 6. Press the NEXT button. All cool outputs will be turned off. The fan output will be turned off for a GAS System. The fan output will be kept in its current state for an Electric System. HEAT: Stage 1” is highlighted. Press the UP or Down button to toggle the HEAT stage 1 output (ON/OFF). 7. Press the NEXT button to highlight “Stage 2”. Press the UP or DOWN button to toggle the HEAT Stage 2 output (ON/OFF). 8. Press the NEXT button to highlight “Stage 3”. Press the UP or DOWN button to toggle the HEAT Stage 3 output (ON/OFF). 9. Press the Reset pinhole to exit INSTALLATION MODE.
  • Page 6 1H1C or 2H1C Heat Pump Testing 1. Hold the MENU button and then press the Reset pinhole. When INSTALLATION MODE is displayed, release the MENU button. All outputs shall be turned off. 2. “HVAC: Heat Pump <0>” indicates you set the changeover value to 0. “HVAC: Heat Pump <B>” indicates you set the changeover value to B. If it is incorrect, please review the positions of switch SW1. 3. “STAGE” should be highlighted. The default setting is “2H/2C or 3H/2C”. Press the UP or DOWN button to select “1H1C or 2H/1C”. 4. Press the NEXT button to highlight “FAN”. Press the UP or DOWN button to toggle the FAN output (ON/OFF). After testing the FAN output, keep it in the ON setting to test other outputs. 5. Press the NEXT button to highlight “COOL: Stage 1”. Press the UP or DOWN button to toggle the COOL Stage 1 output (ON/ OFF). 6. Press the NEXT button. All cool outputs will be turned off. The fan output will remain in its current state. “HEAT: Stage 1” is highlighted. Press the UP or Down button to toggle the HEAT stage 1 output (ON/OFF). 7. Press the NEXT button to highlight “AUX”. Press the UP or DOWN button to toggle the Auxiliary Heating output (ON/OFF). 8. Press the NEXT button to highlight “EMER”. Press the UP or DOWN button to toggle the EMERGENCY output (ON/OFF). 9. Press the Reset pinhole to exit INSTALLATION MODE.

    wire Extender Installation Guide General features The Wire Extender kit is used for an existing thermostat installation that does not contain a common wire. The kit will enable this Programmable Thermostat to work with the existing wiring.
