The Strata DK424 is Toshiba's largest system, offering modular expansion up to maximum capacity of 432 ports. All Strata DK models use the same digital telephones. Previous generations of Toshiba telephones are also compatible with Strata DK systems, providing excellent investment protection.

Strata DK systems provide larger capacities than their Norstar counterparts. This allows the Strata DK systems to address a larger segment of the market. It also protects the customer’s investment better because they are less likely to outgrow the Strata DK than the Norstar.
Toshiba. Studies also show that most people prefer the greater visibility of LED indicators for buttons over the Norstar’s LCD indicators. Toshiba digital telephones have both red and green LEDs to make status indication very clear.
The call duration timer on the Norstar phones requires the user to dial a feature code to briefly display call duration, then it disappears. It is not displayed continuously while the call is in progress, as with the Strata DK. It would be easier to look at your watch than keep dialing display codes on the Norstar.
Redial button until getting through, but this is no substitute for ABR. Auto Busy Redial is a widely used and very popular standard feature of Strata DK systems. This is a particularly valuable feature in heavy outgoing call applications frequently encountering busy outside numbers.
LCD choices and instructions appear automatically and change according to the calling status you are in. This makes the use of this function much quicker, easier, and more automatic on Strata DK systems.
Automatic Hold/Release Automatic Hold is a feature the Norstar provides to prevent lost calls. Strata DK systems also have this feature. However, in high traffic call situations, Auto Hold is inefficient because call takers go from one call to the next simply by pressing the ringing CO line key, and Auto Hold would require them to release the call before going to the next.
LCD soft key choices. Strata DK systems do not provide voice mail soft key prompting as a standard feature, but can provide similar functionality using the Toshiba Ultimate Communicator.

Tie lines, the same as if they were local extensions. This saves the dialing of an extra Tie line access digit, as required on the Strata DK. However, the Norstar does not provide the Tie line transfer recall feature that the DK40i and DK424 provides.

Toshiba Strata DK424 supports partial networking features of coordinated numbering, centralized voice mail, and off-net toll bypass over a private network through Adtran adjunct equipment. Release link trunk and feature transparency not supported.
