Setting the text input mode
Whether you can enter upper case letters,
lower case letters, digits or Chinese cha-
racters, depends on the input mode.
If you have set your phone to the Chinese
language, then the output mode is Chi-
nese, otherwise it is
case, all others lower case).
Press the hash key briefly #, to activate
the input mode. The sequence is as fol-
lows:
Abc
123
abc
The change of input mode is shown in the
bottom display line.
Input of Chinese characters
Names can be entered in the directory in
Chinese characters, with a maximum
length of 8 characters. The Pinyin input
mode is used.
Please proceed as follows:
Open the directory, choose an entry or
make a new one and navigate to the
"Name" field.
Change the mode to "Chinese".
Press the required Pinyin letter (keys 2
to 9). The following popup window
appears:

Notes on the user guide
Enter a further Pinyin letter. If you have
entered a wrong letter, you can delete
X
with
. As soon as the character cor-
responding to the Pinyin input is found,
it is shown in the selection line.

Choose the required character with the
left/right control key r and enter it
into the name field with
Alternatively you can press the key (1-
6) which is shown above the required
character.
Note:
In order to get as close to the
required character as possible,
enter Pinyin tones from 1 bis 5 . To
do so, press the hash key #. The
corresponding digit is shown at the
end of the edit line. Each time the
hash key is pressed the value
increases by 1.
To be able to enter symbols and
special characters, press the
Q key. You can then select and
enter the required symbol in the
selection line as described above.
