SCSI STATUS: GOOD. NOTE: If an error is reported, “Time Out During Selection Phase”, check that the DRM-5004X is powered on and that the writer has power enabled (see the green LED at the back of the writer). Also make sure SCSI cables are attached correctly and securely, and that the correct SCSI ID for the reader has been indicated.
CAUTION: When using Test Mode, extreme caution must be exer- cised. Follow the examples for running tests precisely. In Test Mode, the intelligent back up systems of the DRM-5004X are overridden and it is possible to put more than one disc into a single tray. If this happens, it can damage the unit or the discs.

Test Mode 5.1 Using Test Mode The DRM-5004X has seven different modes within Test Mode. Each of the modes within Test Mode have a number of submodes. The LED on the top inside front panel shows the selected mode number, sub- mode number and a specific three digit address or status.
Page 131
Submode Within Test Mode, also EEPROM Version. NOTE: Figures in this chapter like the one above represent the illuminated display on the inside top rail of the DRM-5004X. See Figure 5-1 for exact location of the illuminated display on the unit.
Page 132
To enter Test Mode, open the door of the unit and bypass the door latch by using the bypass jig. Contact Service for details. See Appendix E, Pioneer Technical Resource Numbers. Then press the TM button for more than 3 seconds. When Test Mode is activated, Mode 0 and submode 0 are automatically selected.
