TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem Cause Correction
Pump has following problems: failure to produce pressure, erratic pressure, chattering, loss of pressure, low water volume.
  1. Low pressure spray tip installed
  1. Replace with high pressure
  1. Water inlet is blocked.
  1. Clear inlet.
  1. Inadequate water supply.
  1. Provide adequate water flow
  1. Inlet hose is kinked or leaking.
  1. Straighten inlet hose, patch leak.
  1. Clogged inlet hose strainer.
  1. Check and clean inlet hose strainer.
  1. Water supply is over 100°F.
  1. Provide cooler water supply
  1. High pressure hose is blocked or leaks.
  1. Clear blocks in outlet hose
  1. Spray gun leaks.
  1. Replace spray gun
  1. Spray tip is obstructed.
  1. Clean spray tip
  1. Pump is faulty.
  1. Contact Sears service facility

Detergent fails to mix with spray

  1. Detergent siphoning tube is not submerged.
  1. Insert detergent siphoning tube into detergent
  1. Detergent siphoning tube is clogged or cracked.
  1. Clean or replace detergent siphoning tube.
  1. High pressure spray tip installed.
  1. Replace with low pressure spray tip
  1. Detergent siphoning check ball stuck.
  1. Free detergent siphoning check ball
Engine will not start; starts and runs rough or shuts down during operation.
  1. Fuel valve is in "Off" position.
  1. Turn fuel valve to "On" position.
  1. Engine stop switch in "Off" position.
  1. Place engine stop switch in "On" position.
  1. Low oil level.
  1. Fill crankcase to proper level.
  1. Dirty air cleaner
  1. Clean or replace air cleaner.
  1. Out of fuel.
  1. Fill fuel tank.
  1. Stale fuel.
  1. Drain fuel tank, fill with fresh fuel.
  1. Spark plug wire not connected to spark plug.
  1. Connect wire to spark plug.
  1. Bad spark plug.
  1. Replace spark plug.
  1. Water in fuel.
  1. Drain fuel tank, fill with fresh fuel.
  1. Overchoking.
  1. Open choke fully and crank engine.
  1. Excessively rich fuel mixture.
  1. Contact Sears service facility.
  1. Intake valve stuck open or closed.
  1. Contact Sears service facility.
  1. Engine has lost compression.
  1. Contact Sears service facility.

Engine lacks power

Dirty air filter. Replace air filter

Engine hunts or falters

Choke is opened too soon. Move choke to halfway position until engine runs smoothly.
