TO RECORD TO CASSETTE TAPE FROM A
TUNER OR OTHER AUXILIARY COMPONENT

Use Type | (normal) or Type II (HIGH/CrQ:2) cassette
tapes.
1. Press the EJECT mark to open the cassette
door, and insert a tape for recording.
Close the cassette door by hand.
2. Press the DOLBY NR button to select the
desired noise reduction mode.
When Dolby NR is set to ON, the 0 mark lights.
3. Press the TAPE function button to begin
tape travel.
4. Press the START button and select the
desired tape direction (<4 or p>).
5. Once the desired tape direction has been
selected, press the stop button.
6. Press the fast forward or rewind buttons to
wind the tape to the point at which you
desire to begin the recording.
7. Press the function button (not CD) corre-
sponding to the component you wish to
record.
@ If TAPE is selected, no recording will be per-
formed.
8. Press the REC/ASES button.
The tape deck will enter the play standby mode.
9. Press the START button to begin recording.
@ To stop recording press the stop button.
@® 70 pause recording, press the REC/ASES button.
@ Toresume recording from the pause mode, press
the START button.
NOTES:
@® Torecord on only one side of a cassette tape, break
the erasure-prevention tab on the side you do not
wish to record on, and load the tape with the side to
be recorded facing the front.
@
During recording, the function selector buttons can-
not be used.
@
The tape direction cannot be changed manually dur-
ing recording.
@
Most tapes include a non-recordable leader of about
five seconds duration at the beginning of each side.
Be sure to forward the tape past this leader before
beginning recording.
@
Aecording cannot be performed on tape cassettes
whose erasure-prevention tabs have been broken.
m@ About Beat Cut
lf you notice a humming noise produced when making
tape recordings of AM broadcasts, perform the follow-
ing steps to reduce the noise:
@) Turn power OFF.
@) Hold the DOLBY NR button depressed 4 seconds
(the "@®" indicator will appear on the display). This
indicates activation of the beat cut filter.
Perform steps @ and @ once more to return to the nor-
mal mode.
