OVEN MAINTENANCE AND CARE

General Cleaning

Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and the oven is cool. Always follow label instructions on cleaning products.
Soap, water and a soft cloth or sponge are suggested first unless otherwise noted.

STAINLESS STEEL AND BLACK STAINLESS STEEL (on some models)
NOTE:
To avoid damage to stainless steel surfaces, do not use soap-filled scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, Cooktop Cleaner, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths or abrasive paper towels. Damage may occur to stainless steel surfaces, even with one-time or limited use.
Rub in direction of grain to avoid damaging.

Cleaning Method:

  • Affresh® Stainless Steel Cleaner Part Number W10355016 (not included) or affresh® Stainless Steel Cleaning Wipes Part Number W10355049 (not included):
See the Quick Start Guide for ordering information.
  • Vinegar for hard water spots.

MICROWAVE OVEN DOOR EXTERIOR
Cleaning Method:

  • Glass cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge: Apply glass cleaner to soft cloth or sponge, not directly on panel.
  • Affresh® Kitchen Appliance Cleaner Part Number W10355010 (not included): See "Online Ordering Information" section from Quick Start Guide to order.

MICROWAVE OVEN CAVITY
To avoid damage to microwave oven cavity, do not use soap-filled scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths, or some paper towels.
On stainless steel models, rub in direction of grain to avoid damaging.

The area where the oven door and frame touch when closed should be kept clean.

Cleaning Method:
Average Soil

  • Mild, nonabrasive soaps and detergents:
Rinse with clean water and dry with soft, lint-free cloth.

Heavy Soil

  • Mild, nonabrasive soaps and detergents:
Heat 1 cup (250 mL) of water for 2 to 5 minutes in oven. Steam will soften soil. Rinse with clean water and dry with soft, lint-free cloth.

Odors

  • Lemon juice or vinegar
Heat 1 cup (250 mL) of water with 1 tablespoon (15 mL) of either lemon juice or vinegar for 2 to 5 minutes in oven.

MICROWAVE OVEN CEILING
The broil element does not need cleaning since the intense heat will burn off any food spatters. However, the ceiling above the broil element may need regular cleaning.

Cleaning Method:
Warm water, mild detergent, and a sponge.

To Clean:

  1. Push the fastening thread gently towards the back of the ceiling and then lower it to release the broil element.
  2. Lower the front of the broil element to access the ceiling for cleaning.
  3. Raise broil element back up and return the fastening thread back to its original location.

Always return the broil element to the cooking position after cleaning.

Electrical Requirements

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
For a grounded, cord-connected appliance:

This appliance must be grounded. In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, grounding will reduce the risk of electric shock by providing a path of least resistance for electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

Improper connection of the equipmentgrounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are in doubt as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance: if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

If codes permit and a separate ground wire is used, it is recommended that a qualified electrical installer determine that the ground path and the wire gauge are in accordance with local codes.
Check with a qualified electrical installer if you are not sure the oven is properly grounded.
This oven must be connected to a grounded metal, permanent wiring system.
Be sure that the electrical connection and wire size are adequate and in conformance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-latest edition or CSA Standards C22.1-94, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 and C22.2 No. O-M91-latest edition, and all local codes and ordinances.
A copy of the above code standards can be obtained from:

Electrical Connection
To properly install your microwave oven, you must determine the type of electrical connection you will be using and follow the instructions provided for it here.

  • Microwave oven must be connected to the proper electrical voltage and frequency as specified on the model/serial/rating plate. The model/serial/rating plate is located underneath the control panel along the oven vent.
    1. Model/serial/rating plate
  • The microwave oven rated 120/240 V, 20 A, has 4 wires (L1, L2, N, and G) in the flex conduit, and should be connected to a 20 A maximum-rated circuit, overcurrent protected on both the L1 and L2 circuits.
  • A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended.
  • Flexible cable from the microwave oven should be connected directly to the junction box.
  • Do not cut the conduit. The length of conduit provided is for serviceability of the microwave oven.
  • A UL listed or CSA approved conduit connector must be provided.
  • If the house has aluminum wiring, follow the procedure below:

Connect the aluminum wiring using special connectors and/or tools designed and UL listed for joining copper to aluminum.
Follow the electrical connector manufacturer's recommended procedure. Aluminum/copper connection must conform with local codes and industry accepted wiring practices.
For power requirements, refer to the following table:

Voltage Microwave With Convection Oven
240 VAC 19.9 A/3250 W
208 VAC 19.9 A/3250 W
