In the Cisco ONS 15540 chassis, the 10-Gbps line card motherboard connects
directly to an ITU direct insertion module in a 2.5 Gbps line card. (See
Figure
1-11.) The 10-GE line card motherboards can be installed slots 9 and 11 of
the Cisco ONS 15540 ESP chassis and connects to the ITU direct insertion
module which should be installed in a motherboard in slot 10. The ITU direct
insertion module is installed in the 2.5-Gbps line card motherboard and connects
via electrical and optical ribbon cables to the 10-GE line card motherboard.
A 10-Gbps line card motherboard connects via electrical and optical ribbon cables
to an ITU direct insertion module in a 2.5-Gbps line card motherboard. The
functionality of the LED is the same as the 2.5Gbps line card motherboard status
LED.
