Maximizing Battery Operating Time
The Presario 1700 with Intel Pentium® III processor supports SpeedStep™
Technology. This technology supports two different modes of operation.
The default settings are:
•
Performance Mode—the processor runs at maximum speed if the notebook
is powered on while connected to an AC power source
•
Battery Optimized Mode—the processor runs at lower speed to maximize
battery operating time if the notebook is powered on with a battery source
To automatically change the processor settings when changing power sources
(from AC to battery or battery to AC) without rebooting the notebook, you
must install the SpeedStep™ application.
