Service life
Rechargeable batteries are sealed lead-acid batteries similar to
starter batteries in motor vehicles. In batteries of this kind, the elec-
trolyte is linked to a fibreglass fleece. This allows the battery to be
placed in any position. The battery has a limited service life. When it
is spent, it must be disposed of at a battery disposal site in accord-
ance with environmental protection laws.
The battery compartment is equipped with ventilation that en-
sures the correct amount of air is supplied as required. The ventila-
tion must not be blocked or covered.
Risk of explosion from excess pressure.
If the product has been exposed to excess mechanical load (from
falling on the floor, a collision/pressure in the application or forceful
lifting), it must be sent to Miele or a specialist company authorised
by Miele so that the hermetic separation between the battery com-
partment and electronics compartment can be checked.
See the manufacturer's installation instructions for further information.

To ensure the rechargeable battery works correctly and to extend its
service life, it must be charged for at least 24 hours before it is used
for the first time.
If a charged battery is not used for an extended period, it will gradu-
ally discharge. It is recommended that the battery is charged for at
least a few hours before use.
The battery capacity (Ah – ampere hours) is derived from the product
of the current strength and discharge capacity at a specified voltage.
The capacity largely depends on the strength of the discharge cur-
rent. When the battery capacity has dropped to 50 %, the integrated
electronics emit a signal. In order to extend the service life of the bat-
tery, it should always be recharged before this level is reached.
Only use the charger provided in the accessories to charge the bat-
tery:
- CHJ2
- COBO
The service life of rechargeable batteries is difficult to predict as it de-
pends on the following parameters:
- Discharge depth
If the battery is deeply discharged between charge cycles, its service
life will be reduced. It is therefore recommended that the battery is
charged as often as possible.
- Strength of discharge current
