Model CDC-4
Conventional Detector Card
INTRODUCTION
OPERATION
P/N 315-034200-9
The Model CDC-4 from Siemens Industry, Inc., is a card that
allows conventional detectors to be used on the FireFinder-XLS
system. It provides four Class A or Class B conventional detec-
tion zones. Each zone can support two-wire photoelectric or
ionization compatible smoke detectors and an unlimited number
of normally open circuit closure devices. The module also
supports Siemens Fire Safety flame and beam detectors. The
relay base, remote lamp and audible base may also be used with
the CDC-4. The CDC-4 uses one network address on the
FireFinder-XLS system. It has diagnostic LED indicators showing
module status and the status of each zone.
Activation of any device on the circuit initiates a zone alarm and
causes any previously programmed functions to operate. Any
circuit in an alarm or trouble condition is displayed on the PMI/
PMI-2/PMI-3.
The CDC-4 is designed to function in a local degrade mode
during failure of the FireFinder-XLS main processor or during
the loss of the system communication network. While in the
degrade mode, the CDC-4 can report both alarm and trouble
conditions and can activate local outputs on other modules
within the same enclosure.
The maximum zone alarm current can be set to either 175mA
or 100mA and is set in pairs for zones 1/2 and 3/4. When a
compatible detector is selected in the Zeus Programming Tool,
the maximum zone alarm current is automatically set by the
CDC-4. Detectors requiring the 100mA zone current limit (see
table on page 11) cannot be used on the same zone pair as
detectors requiring the 175mA zone current limit (see table on
pages 7-11).
CDC-4 zones may be configured either as alarm-causing or
supervisory-causing, if allowed by the local Authority Having
Jurisdiciton.
Do not use shorting devices on circuits with accessories on them. The shorting
devices will lower the zone voltage to a point where the accessories will not operate.
