6.11. Transparent Network Service (Oracle)

Transparent Network Service (TNS) is the Oracle (version 8 or higher) networking technology that

provides a single application interface to all industry-standard networking protocols. To connect

to a database, users initiate a connect request by passing information (username and password)

along with a short name for the database service they wish to connect to.
