    Turning the Printer ON/OFF The printer can be turned ON/OFF using the power switch on the right side of the printer body. Be sure to observe the following instructions in order to prevent unexpected problems. Turning the Printer ON To use this printer, press "I" of the power switch to turn the printer ON. After running a self-diagnostic test on the printer unit and optional accessories, the printer will be ready to print.

    Selecting a Paper Source A paper source can be selected using the following procedure. ■ When printing from Windows or Macintosh Select a paper source in the printer driver. Because the default setting for the paper selection in the printer driver is [Auto], if a paper size is specified by an application, the printer selects the paper source automatically and feeds paper from the paper source.

    Output Trays Output Tray Types This printer has two output trays: "face-down output tray" and "face-up output tray". Do not switch the output tray during printing. This may result in misfeeds. CAUTION Keep your hands or clothing away from the roller in the output area. Even if the printer is not printing, sudden rotation of the roller may catch your hands or clothing, resulting in personal injury.
  • Page 63 When outputting Legal size paper or other long-size paper to the face-down output tray, open the face-down output tray support to prevent the paper from hanging out of the tray. When you use the face-down output tray support, gently open it until it stops.

Remedy Specify the settings for "Line Spacing" and "Lines/Page" in the application so that data fits in one page, and print again.
