Servicing the Spark Plug
Service Interval
Yearly – Check the spark plug and replace it if necessary.
Use a NGK BPR6ES or Champion RN9YC spark plug or
equivalent.
1. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop.
2. Rotate the discharge chute so that it faces forward.
3. Remove the discharge chute, the discharge chute
handle, and the chute seal by removing the 3 large
screws and one small screw (Fig. 017).

4. Remove the 4 screws that secure the shroud
(Fig. 018).

5. Remove the fuel tank cap.
6. Remove the shroud (Fig. 018).
7. Install the fuel tank cap.
8. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug.
9. Clean around the spark plug.
10. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head.
IMPORTANT
Replace a cracked, fouled, or dirty spark plug. Do not
clean the electrodes because grit entering the cylinder can
damage the engine.
