The HV-D30 uses a menu system to make changes to the operation and settings of the camera.

In order to get the best performance from the Hitachi HV-D30 when it is used on a microscope, the fol-
lowing settings are recommended.
Activate the MENU system by pressing the MENU button on the rear of the camera. Using the
DOWN arrow key scroll down to the bottom of the screen and make sure that the FILE SELECT is set
to File 1, (any File number can be used except PRESET) Use the RIGHT arrow key to change the
FILE setting. All camera settings made will be saved to the selected FILE and will be retained even
when the camera is powered down. Changes made to the PRESET FILE will not be saved when the
power is removed from the camera.
Using the UP arrow key scroll to the top of the menu and set the CAMERA MODE to MAN-

UAL by using the RIGHT arrow key. Scroll down to the WHITE BALANCE mode and
change this setting to AUTO or MEMORY depending on the application. See explanation of
these choices at the end of this page.
Turn off the MENU by pressing the MENU button. Next we need to enter the SPECIAL SET

MENU. Hold down the UP arrow and press and hold the MENU button for 2 seconds. The
screen will display the SPECIAL SET MENU. Use the DOWN arrow key to scroll down to the
LENS setting. Change the LENS type to DC. Use the LEFT arrow key to go back to the SPE-
CIAL SET MENU.
