Web: Configuring QoS Parameters
Figure 8-1. Initial QoS Screen
The QoS screen, shown in Figure 8-1, enables you to modify the following QoS
parameters:
Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM): Enables/disables QoS prioritization and
■
coordination of wireless medium access. The QoS settings on the Access
Point 530 control downstream traffic flowing from the access point to the
client station (AP EDCA parameters) and the upstream traffic flowing
from the station to the access point (station EDCA parameters). Disabling
WMM deactivates QoS control of station EDCA parameters on upstream
traffic flowing from the station to the access point; however, you can still
set some parameters on the downstream traffic flowing from the access
point to the client station (AP EDCA parameters). (The default is enabled.)
[Advanced Settings]: Opens the WMM Settings pop-up window to
■
configure specific queue QoS parameters.
■
[Update]: Updates the access point with the QoS details.
The default WMM parameters settings are usually adequate for WMM opera-
tion. Incorrect WMM settings can adversely affect network performance.
Changes to WMM parameters should be reserved for someone with an
advanced knowledge of how WMM operates. For more on WMM, see the IEEE
802.11e standard.
