Drive bay numbers when SAS expander is used

If you connect via an SAS Expander, the drive bay numbers become sequential.
・SAS Expander Port 1 is always connected to Port 1 of RAID Controller.
・SAS Expander Port 2 is always connected to Port 2 of RAID Controller.
・SAS Expander Port 3 connection = Drive bay number 1-4
・SAS Expander Port 4 connection = Drive bay number 5-8
・SAS Expander Port 5 connection = Drive bay number 9-12
・SAS Expander Port 6 connection = Drive bay number 13-16
・SAS Expander Port 7 connection = Drive bay number 17-20
・SAS Expander Port 8 connection = Drive bay number 21-24
・SAS Expander Port 9 connection = Drive bay number 25-28
Here we illustrate the examples.
Front
If an optional 2x 2.5 inch drive cage is connected to an SAS Expander, the drive bay number skips by one.
For example, in case 2x 2.5 inch drive cages at rear are connected to port 9 of SAS Expander, the drive bay
numbers are 25 and 27.
Rear
If 2x 2.5 inch drive cage are connected to port 3 of SAS Expander, the drive bay numbers are 1 and 3.
