Chapter 1 1.1.1.3.2 Slightly uneven densities that occur in the halftone density area of a printed image 0031-5548 [ Manual-related ] Description This mode enables you to correct the slightly uneven densities that occur in the halftone density area of a printed image. The following three types of shading correction can be made: - Densitometer Correction: This mode enables you to correct uneven densities by gauging the output results of the test page using a densitometer, and entering the displayed values for density...
Chapter 1 [Caution] - The density adjustment is performed based on all the density values of marks from 0 to 8. If all marks from 0 to 8 are shown on the test page, make sure to gauge and enter the density values for all imprinted marks. - If the marks 0 and 8 are not shown on the test page, gauge and enter the density values for all the imprinted marks from 1 to 7 and make sure that the density values for the marks 0 and 8 are set to "0".

Chapter 1 and scanning them using the Duplex Color Image Reader Unit-H1 or the Auto Gradation Sensor-A1. Once this is complete, the machine automatically corrects the irregularities. This recalibrates more accurately than the Quick Adjustment. Paper output as test pages are not counted as copy or print. "Quick Adjustment": This is a quick and simple adjustment that is made to the gradation, density, and color settings of the machine.

1.1.1.3.6 Coarse image from the leading edge to about 100mm from the trailing edge of paper 0031-9004 [ Verified by Canon Inc. ] Symptom Coarse image [a] may occur from the leading edge to around 100mm from the trailing edge of paper with a Bk halftone image under high temperature and high humidity environment.

Chapter 1 Cause While the trailing edge of the paper passes through the registration roller, if the same paper is slipped slightly at the nip of the secondary transfer roller, the behavior of paper becomes unstable. At this time, if the paper comes in contact with the ITB that is located in upstream of the secondary transfer roller, the toner image on ITB is deranged and the above mentioned symptom occurs.

Chapter 1 5) Select "Adj. Paper Realignment Speed" and press "Change". [Note] In case adjust Paper Realignment Speed will not be displayed on the control panel, change the setting value of Service Mode > Mode List > COPIER > Option > DSPLY-SW > IMGC-ADJ to "1" and perform a power-cycle of main power (off/on). The value is "0" by default. 6) If the adjust Paper Realignment Speed screen is displayed, the presetting is completed.

1.1.1.5.2 Roller marks 0031-6958 [ Verified by Canon Inc. ] Symptom If paper is picked up from the cassette 1 or 2 under a high humidity environment, roller marks may appear in the area at 81mm[a]/258mm[b]/354mm[c] from the leading edge of the first page of halftone image.

Chapter 1 above mentioned symptom. The symptom is more likely to be generated under a high humidity environment as the force of electrostatic attraction between paper and toner is weakened. The area at 81mm from the leading edge of a sheet touches the pre-registration roller, the area at 258mm touches the vertical path roller 1 of the cassette 1 and the area at 354mm touches the vertical path roller 2 of the cassette 2.

Chapter 1 - If this symptom occurred on multiple Process Units, remedy this issue one unit at a time. This is to prevent the deterioration of Photosensitive Drums. - To prevent the deterioration of Photosensitive Drums and image failures from this, work at a darkened location as much as possible. Fusing is likely to occur on both ends of the drum and it is recommended to clean by using the lightproof sheet to cover the non-cleaning side.

Chapter 1 [Caution] If the drum is cleaned in a horizontal direction to the rotation direction, scratches on the drum may occur. 5) Rotate the drum in its rotation direction to clean another location and then repeat step 3 and 4. Clean the drum for at least one rotation and confirm visually that foreign matters are removed.
Chapter 1 4) Use lint-free paper (moistened by ethanol) to clean toner on the drum in the same direction as the drum rotation direction and then dry wipe the cleaned location with lint-free paper (NOT moistened by ethanol). [Caution] If the drum is cleaned in a horizontal direction to the rotation direction, scratches on the drum may occur. 5) Rotate the drum in its rotation direction to clean another location and then repeat step 3 and 4.

Chapter 1 Cause The above symptom occurs when the first side of 2-sided heavy coated paper scrapes against foreign objects including paper dust accumulated on the guide [a] of the decurler unit. Service work 1) Open the front cover and remove the supplied cleaning member [a]. 2) Open the front left cover [b].
If the symptom does not improve, check other causes. 1.1.1.6.9 Dents on an image at 25mm intervals due to soiled decurler rollers of decurler unit 0031-7353 [ Verified by Canon Inc. ] Symptom Dents [a] on an image 25mm may appear at 25mm intervals.
1.1.1.6.10 20mm or less length of streak on image (development stain) due to the toner clump on the developing sleeve 0031-7354 [ Verified by Canon Inc. ] Symptom 20mm or less length of streak on image (development stain) [a] may occur when an image of low density is passed through the machine consecutively.

Chapter 1 Cause The ends of the drum cleaning blade continue to contact with the drum without toner, so that it gets abraded with progression of endurance time. As toner passes through the abraded part, the charging roller gets soiled with toner and generates charging failure. Excess toner attaches on the part with charging failure and this causes the above mentioned symptom.

Chapter 1 3) Clean the surface [A] of the drum cleaning blade [2] with lint-free paper [1] and apply the lubricant (Tospearl) onto the edge [B] that contacts to the drum after cleaning. 4) Put the drum cleaning unit [1] and the drum (Bk) together with the 6 screws [2] by tightening them lightly just enough to hold them for a while. 5) Holding the both ends, rotate the drum [1] in the direction of the arrow for about a circuit.

If the machine cannot operate when the main power is turned ON, check the breaker. If the breaker is switched to the OFF position, do not attempt to turn ON the breaker yourself, and be sure to contact your local authorized Canon dealer.

Chapter 1 - J209[4] of the saddle stitcher controller PCB [B] of the saddle unit Service work Check if the connectors at the relevant locations are disconnected for the feed motor driver PCB and the saddle stitcher controller PCB following the procedure below.
