Chapter 6: Analyzer Operation
• Manual — The Analyzer is connected in one of the following manual configurations:
• Network connection — The Analyzer is connected to your network with a standard ethernet
cable, and your network assigns a static IP address to all network devices. You will need to
acquire an IP address and subnet mask address from your Information Technology Group before
proceeding.
• Direct-to-computer connection —The Analyzer is directly connected to a personal computer
using an ethernet crossover cable.
3.
If you selected Manual in step 2, you must enter an IP address. Press the IP Address button. Using the
numeric pad appears to the right, enter the IP address as follows:
• Network connection — If you are connecting to the network and your network assigns a static IP
address to all network devices, enter the IP address provided by your Information Technology Group.
• Direct-to-computer connection — If you are connecting the Analyzer directly to a personal
computer with an ethernet crossover cable, you can specify an IP address of your choosing. The first
three numbers of the IP address MUST be the same as those used on the personal computer. GEAI
recommends leaving the IP address set to the default value of 192.168.1.10.
4.
If you selected Manual in Step 2, you must enter a Subnet Mask as follows:
• If you are connecting to the network via a standard ethernet cable, enter the subnet mask address
provided by your Information Technology Group.
• If you are connecting the Analyzer directly to a personal computer with an ethernet crossover cable,
you can specify a subnet mask address of your choosing. The subnet mask address MUST be the
same as the one used on the personal computer. GEAI recommends leaving the subnet mask
address set to the default value of 255.255.255.0.

Press the Apply button.
Configuring a Personal Computer
If you are connecting the Analyzer to a personal computer with an ethernet crossover cable, you will need to
manually configure your computer with the correct IP address information. The guidelines here are intended to
help you connect to the Analyzer, but GEAI cannot anticipate all network configurations. To be sure you connect
to the Analyzer properly, GEAI strongly recommends you consult with your Information Technology Group.
There are certain situations that can arise that may require additional configuration. Most modern network
interfaces (including the InnovOx) use "autonegotiation," which should result in "plug and play" operation.
However, there are instances in which autonegotiation may fail or be disabled. In such cases, the Ethernet
interface will need to be configured manually to the "10BASE-T half duplex" setting on the remote device.
Contact your IT professional for help with this configuration.
