Major components Major components of the Netfinity 4500R server M a j o r c o m p o n e n t s The orange color on components and labels in your server identifies hot-swap or hot- plug components. This means that you can install or remove the components while the system is running, provided that your system is configured to support this function.
This section is for all users, but is written with the experienced user in mind. If you need more detailed installation information, refer to the User’s Reference on the IBM Netfinity Documentation CD. Working inside a server with power on Your server supports hot-swap drives, fans, and power supplies and is designed to operate safely while turned on with the cover removed.

Installing adapters The following illustration shows the rerouting of the SCSI cable if you install an IBM ServeRAID adapter. SCSI connector B (J29) 1. Disconnect the cable from SCSI connector B on the system board. 2. Connect the cable to the connector on the ServeRAID adapter.
Your server supports three 1-inch (26 mm) slim-high hot-swap hard disk drives in the hot-swap bays. C o n f i g u r i n g y o u r The ServerGuide CDs provide software setup tools and installation tools that are specifically designed for your IBM Netfinity server. Use these CDs during the initial installation of your server to configure basic hardware features and to simplify your network operating system installation.
Your server comes with the following Netfinity management software products: the IBM Netfinity Manager™ program and Client Services for Netfinity Manager version 5.2. Some versions of the ServerGuide package contain the IBM Netfinity Manager software.
If you cannot locate and correct the problem using the information in this section, refer to the " Solving problems" section on the IBM Netfinity Documentation CD and the "Support for Netfinity Servers" flowchart in the front of this booklet.
